"The New Textbook, Now With The iPad"

On January 19, 2012, Apple created a new way to interact with textbooks at schools launching iBooks 2.0 for the iPad. A new way for the students to buy, use, update, store and carry their textbooks to school.

I remember when as a high school student I used to check out two books for each class, one to keep it in my locker at school and the other one to leave it at home, so I didn't have to be carrying them around all the time. The good part in high school was that you didn't have to buy them, (unless you lose them, you have to pay for them), but now at a college level, buying textbooks can be a nightmare when buying them.

With the new iBooks, Apple redesigned the way to get and own our books. Once you buy them, you only have to download them and that's it. It's stored on you iPad, and if a new version comes out;  you don't have to buy the book again, as if it were a physical textbook, you only have to update it as you do with your  apps in the appstore.

Also if you ever lose your iPad, hopefully never, then once you get a new one you will be able to download them again for free. I remember my first day of college on 2010, I bought my textbooks that day and I was carrying them in my backpack and because i had to work that day I dressed with my work clothes in the parking lot and for whatever reason I left my backpack there with my texbooks on it... I lost them and then I had to buy them again. What a what to start college hehehe...

With this new digital texbooks; Apple is also contributing to help the environment with the saving of paper, the delivering of the texbooks and the disposal of them. Using iBooks 2.0, once the textbook is created, it will be available for download in the iBooks store automatically.

This is the new era, Apple has been creating amazing products that literally change the world and this is another improvement it has made to its costumers. Hopefully Apple will be selling cheaper iPads for the students or create a way to make them affordable for everyone.
